I do short, to and from work journeys. During the winter and especially when it's very cold, lights, fan heater, wipers etc are all in use which eats into the life of a battery. Before the recent snow, my battery was on its last legs, even the key wouldn't open the doors. Despite the technical jargon and warnings in other reviews advising it is NOT a charger, but for maintenance only, I beg to differ. I plugged it into the OBD socket the minute it was delivered and left it for 48 hours. The car sprang into life when I needed to use it and when I got to work, plugged it back in. No problems thereafter, even on short journeys. This IS a trickle charger BUT my battery is fairly new so I can't vouch on how it would perform on much older batteries. They could not advertise this as a charger if it could not be used for which it is advertised. It can be left on the dashboard, the solar panel is robust and fairly large with the accompanying leads being of good length compared to other, cheaper solar chargers I've used in the past which barely lasted 6-12months. The OBD plug-in feature is a huge bonus making it SO easy not having to go under the bonnet :)
